About
Founded by Charlie Hitchcock, NTG Theater develops shows that seek to engage, surprise, and delight audiences. From comedic techno-thrillers to indie rock musicals, NTG Theater's projects encompass a variety of theatrical genres.
Charlie Hitchcock is a playwright, producer, and recovering computer nerd. While he still co-owns a successful software company, his creative energy is now focused on developing new theatrical works. Charlie chose to pursue this second act in his career because of his love of great theater—especially when it involves music.
In college, Charlie was a member of Princeton's Triangle Club, participating in their main stage shows in the spring, and helping take their winter shows on tour. From hanging lights and copying music by hand (it was the 70s, there was no Dorico), to playing trumpet in the pit and music directing his senior year, Charlie's time in the organization grew his love of theater.
Now, after four decades in computer technology and software development, he's returning to that former flame. Charlie brings his background as an engineer and former academic to his work, dramatizing how technological forces reshape our world, exploring the ways it influences our societies, our relationships, and our identities. His play Godfather of Doom weaves AI concerns into a psychological thriller that examines how narratives drive human behavior, even to our detriment.
Charlie's writing partnership with his daughter has yielded several projects including the new musical Speakerheart (Florida Festival of New Musicals), the dark comedy Brainstorm, and an original adaptation of A Christmas Carol (Weston Theater Company). Their short play Glow in the Dark has been produced at the Boston Theater Marathon and Firehouse Center for the Arts. NTG Theater's projects have received table readings and workshops in New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Florida, and NYC.
What does the "NTG" stand for? Ask him sometime!
Charlie first began writing for the stage with his daughter, Sierra. When she was growing up, he would regale her with original bedtime stories, helping ignite her love of storytelling. The father/daughter duo's shared love of storytelling and theater is what prompted them to begin their dramatic writing partnership.
Since they started collaborating, H&H have worked on numerous projects together including Speakerheart, Brainstorm, Glow in the Dark, and The Benson Gang, with more exciting works to come!
